ARTIST BIO: Norman Hamilton, full blood Southern Cheyenne was born in Clinton Oklahoma .. He grew up in Wichita Kansas, and presently resides in Port St. Lucie Florida with his wife JoAnn and two daughters Rachel & Judy..

Norman attended Haskell Institute in Lawrence Kansas 1966-1968 .. He also attended Oklahoma Univeristy 1971-1972 as an Art Major..

Norman is also an accomplished Silversmith, specializing in Plains Style Designs..

Norman is a Champion Fancy Dancer who has won many dance competitions thru-out the years.. He also danced at "7" Falls in Colorado Springs with a dance troupe during the mid 1980's and is highly respected in cultural dance interpretations...

Norman is the great great grandson of Cheyenne Chief White Antelope who was killed early morning November 29,1864 at the Sand Creek Masacre which was led by Colonel Chivington with over 700 soldiers.

Survivors of the attack say that Chief White Antelope, then a 75 year old man, sang the Cheyenne Death Song as he died.

Norman is also the great great grandson of Cheyenne Chief Heap Of Birds "Mo-E-Yau-Hay-Ist" [Many Magpies] who was captured at Cheyenne Agency Indian Territory April 3, 1875 and was incarcerated at Fort Marion [Fort Castillo De San Marcos], in St. Augustine Florida and later died there of unknown causes on October 7, 1877..

What pleases Norman now, is the fact that 136 years after the Sand Creek Massacre, the US Governmet has passed what was known as bill S2950, A bill to make the Sand Creek Massacre a Historical Site in the State of Colorado, is now public law No.106-465, signed by the President of the United States on 11/7/2000 ...
